Open for Checkout: Monday - Friday 7:45 am - 3:15pm Checkout Policy: The Harrington Library Media Center operates on a fixed checkout schedule for classes. Teachers escort their classes to the LMC once a week and supervise the whole class checkout. In addition, each classroom teacher is provided with 2 Checkout Passes and 2 Research Passes. Students with a pass from their teacher are permitted to come and check out books at anytime of day. They are required however, to wait for the scheduled class to finish checking out first. Working in the Library: Students may also come to the library individually or in small groups to complete assignments or do research. Students must present a Research Pass from their teacher in order to work in the library. Students may not interrupt the Teacher Librarian if she is with a class. Flexible Schedule: The Teacher Librarian works on a flexible schedule. This schedule is designed to allow for collaborative teaching that supports student achievement. It is expected that the Teacher Librarian will be working with scheduled groups or classes throughout most of the day. A part of each day will also be used for management of the collection. The Teacher Librarian is available to assist students and teachers who visit the LMC when the schedule permits. Teachers are welcome to bring their whole class down to the library for group work when the space is available. They need to schedule these visits ahead of time with the Teacher Librarian. Computers: The school community is welcome to use the computers in the library. The computers are to be used for accessing the online catalog and research. Teachers are responsible for making sure that their students have parental permission to use the Internet. |
