During the week of December 1st, 2008, Harrington had its first RIF book distribution of the school year. To get things started, we invited the Denver Zoo to our school to put on an assembly called "Animal Expeditions." Our friends Amy and Tara from the zoo brought in some amazing animals and did a fantastic job of showing them off and telling us a little bit about their habits and their habitats. Among the special guests were: Whipper (a baby alligator), JoJo (a Ball Boa), Hissy (a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach), Alex (a Red Tail Hawk), Pele (an Armadillo), and a Kookaburra. It was a very exciting performance! The RIF book distribution was also great fun. There were lots of wonderful books to choose from, and we also had a contest (guess how many squares are in the jar); there were 4 winners who got to choose a free book as their prize. The winners were: Rafael Morales, Tamia Wright, Julia Valdez, and Jasmine Pasillas. Please take a moment to look at some of the photos from "Animal Expeditions" and RIF. Thank you!
