Harrington in the News...

We will empower students to become lifelong learners in a safe, respectful environment.

Harrington Elementary School is located in Northeast Denver in the Cole-Clayton neighborhood.  Currently our population is approximately 550 students in grades ECE through sixth grade.  Harrington continues to increase staff knowledge of standards, literacy and math through our school wide Title I Plan.  Harrington has Literacy and Math coaches that support our staff in their teaching practices through coaching teachers in their classrooms in best practices that increase student learning.  Staff development at our school is focused on continuing to increase student achievement through participation in Public Education and Business Coalition literacy/math lab for teachers; literacy math and science workshops/conferences; weekly staff development in literacy, math, and science; weekly grade-level meetings to discuss student achievement; grants to support Harrington’s literacy and math goals; study stacks to support literacy goals; and science workshops.  Harrington’s CSAP, standardized test scores and performance-based assessments have improved slowly over the last few years.  Individualized inventories (which are more sensitive to student learning) have shown significant growth in reading, writing and math over the last five years.  Harrington has brought in additional resources by donations, volunteer work, and grant writing that support literacy and math.
